This well-loved, appropriately-used Jeep Wrangler TJ APEX (X) is no pavement princess or mall crawler - it’s an upgraded, experienced, trail-eating beast. The 2002 Jeep Wrangler Apex X is a special edition of the Jeep Wrangler TJ, and was available for about half of the 2002 model year.
This Jeep has been with me since 2017. It has conquered trails like Poison Spider and Hells Revenge in Moab, Utah. It’s tackled all the trails in Utah’s Uinta Mountains and traveled throughout the Southwest. It has even defeated the dreaded speed bumps at my local grocery store!
Every squeak tells stories of epic journeys. I’ve been a Jeeper since 1996 and have had the ultimate pleasure of owning two Jeeps during those years. I’ve been off-roading since 1999, and was a trail guide in Moab and Blanding, Utah. I’ve been slow and careful on the trails, always trying to keep repairs at a minimum for myself and others I help guide over the rough stuff.
This 2002 Jeep could use some work, like they all can, but you’ll be starting with a nicely-upgraded, solid Jeep that’s ready for its next round of upgrades or some sweet trails right away! See "known issues" below, too.
Why am I selling? Life has a stupid way of switching gears and sometimes priorities must change. In my case, I must make the heartbreaking, difficult decision to let my beloved Jeep find its next owner. This beast is ready to start its next adventure with you.

Known Issues
----------------------------------------
Local, off-road mechanic checked the vehicle 8/25 and said the brakes, knuckles and pads will need service within about 6 months to a year. The brakes pulse slightly when stopping.
E-lockers work when needed, however once engaged, they may intermittently turn on when going at low speeds, even if they are turned off. I have had multiple mechanics look at this, change fluids, etc, however it keeps happening. After a while, they stop randomly turning on. They also disengage when you get over about 10MPH, so it’s not like they’re engaged when you’re on the highway. I rarely need to use them on the trails, so it hasn’t been a big deal.
I have not calibrated the speedometer to the larger tires, so the speedometer shows approx. 9 MPH over. If it shows 45 MPH, you’re really going about 36 MPH.
Radio/CD player works, but is not seated properly in the dash. I have the manual so you can figure out how to use it - way too many buttons for this old-school Jeeper. The overhead and dash speakers work fine.
Horn sounds like a dying goose sometimes. I must have blown it out, but it made me and my friends laugh, so I never fixed it. May the dying goose horn bring you and your friends just as much joy!
----------------------------------------
Once you disconnect and start the Jeep rocking and rolling, you’ll hear squeaks. These sounds are normal for this Jeep. Three different mechanic shops and multiple Jeeping buddies concur. There may be bushings that could be changed (the rear sway bar and bushings were changed last fall), but my mechanics tell me the other ones aren’t bad yet.
----------------------------------------
Yes, the undercarriage pics show some rust. When your Jeep is old enough to drink, it's going to have some rust! LOL All of my Jeeping friends and off-roading mechanics tell me this Wrangler is "solid." So that's what I'm telling you!
