Description:
"On the nation's first three-dimensional, multi-colored hologram stamp, two space-walking astronauts move about in the void near their futuristic Space Station while a Shuttle-like space plane prepares to dock. Two nearby planets -- one with a cratered, lifeless, Moon-like landscape, the other an Earth-like body in the distance -- changes colors. Red, yellow, orange, green, purple and blue images appear and disappear as the light hitting the hologram shifts. And stars appear to twinkle in the background.
The hologram -- a three-dimensional image made using a laser on a flat, thin silvery mirrored surface -- appears on the Postal Service’s newest 25-cent stamped envelope, which, like all its other regular stamped envelopes, sells for 30 cents.
It’s been a bit hit with stamp collectors since its release in December but U. S. Postal Service spokesman Jim Murphy said many people probably don’t know the unique item even exists and is available at most local Post offices."
