Web Copywriter
We are in need of experienced copywriters to write for several of our properties. Experience in editorial as well as ad copy is ideal. The preferred candidate will have advanced research and writing skills and a solid understanding of basic SEO principles such as the semantic web and identifying keyword targeting. Our web copywriters need to be able to create original and creative web copy for several different career and education topics and do so at a quick and efficient pace. Some research is required but most articles can be written in 30-60 minutes. This is an in-house position at our downtown Salt Lake City, UT office.

Duties primarily include writing and maintaining the Plan’s internal documents (e.g., technical documentation, policies and procedures, special projects) as well as writing and editing external correspondence (e.g., customer letters, newsletters, forms, official public documents, Web copy, marketing materials).

POSITION SUMMARY:
Develop and maintain outdoor adventure and equipment-related blog content on a weekly basis. Research and write articles in a conversational style that engages readers. Interface with the Internet Communications Manager to insure blog content captures readers' interest, while promoting company message. Use on-line and off-line social networking techniques for collaboration with people inside and outside the organization. Maintain quality assurance, by open information exchange with customer service and marketing departments. Promote company objectives with each blog article.
STORY ROTATION:
Submit one story weekly, beginning October 24, 2009, prior to the weekly assignment deadline, which will be determined upon hiring and reevaluated periodically. Stories should run 400-1200 words and contain a significant amount of supporting quality imagery.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Research, write/edit and create layout for new articles and features.
2. Contribute compelling imagery to every blog post.
3. Create image links and ensure links are up to date.
4. Respond promptly to blog comments and email.
5. Act as liaison between blog readers and the brand.
6. Perform other duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Hold a passion for outdoor adventures, specifically backcountry skiing/snowboarding. Possess engaging "conversational" writing skills with a professional posture. High school diploma or GED with related experience in achieving company objectives with blogging expertise. Must be computer and definitely Internet/search engine savvy to perform online research. Completed degrees from accredited institutions may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis, provided courses were taken in writing, marketing, business and psychology/sociology.

- Manage documentation projects
- Implement writing standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
- Edit/revise existing software documentation
- Review existing material and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction
- Compose written matter relating to software use and instructions intended for software user
- Index and cross reference documents
