Juan Hernandez has stated to the media that he advocates a "Mexico First" philosophy for Mexican Americans (legal and illegal) living in the United States!

SALT LAKE CITY (July 14, 2008) -- The Utah Coalition Against Prohibition will sponsor a rally at the Utah State Capitol Saturday, July 19, from noon until 4:20 p.m. to end the prohibition of Medical Marijuana and Industrial Hemp
in Utah.
Rally supporters want Utah to follow 12 other states that have already passed laws allowing seriously ill patients to use Cannabis (marijuana) when its use is recommended by a medical doctor.
An open microphone will be available for audience members to share their opinions after scheduled speakers have talked on the south steps of the Capitol Building. Three local bands will play at the rally.
Speakers will include:
Andrew McCullough, chairman of the Utah Libertarian Party and candidate for Attorney General of Utah;
Rob Latham, director of Government Affairs for the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers;
Dr. Ken Larsen, research scientist and write-in candidate for Utah Governor;
Happy Gorder, law student at Weber State University and founder of Advocates of Minority;
Daniel McGuire, Utah coordinator of Hemp for Life;
Ben Valdez Jr., president of Hempower Utah and vice chairman of Therapeutic Humane Cannabis (THC);
Andy Morrill, national director of Mormons for Medical Marijuana.
Ben Valdez Jr., a long-time advocate of medical marijuana in Utah, said the laws need to be reviewed and changed. "The laws against those who use medical marijuana are oppressive and draconian," Valdez said. "They create criminals where there are no crimes and a class of criminals that are otherwise regular productive citizens."
Research by Dr. Ken Larsen at the Veterans' Administration Hospital shows that Cannabis, specifically the active compound in marijuana -- delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is highly therapeutic. "My own research shows that THC reduces pain and stomach ulcers associated with taking medications that leave ulcers and lesions in the
stomach," Larsen said.
Andy Morrill, national director of Mormons for Medical Marijuana, said decisions concerning medicine and health should be handled by medical professionals. "It is not the place of our bishops or politicians to make medical decisions, that is the place of our physicians," Morrill said.
Supporters of medical marijuana point out that Cannabis does not have the severe side-effects that accompany other medicines now commonly and legally prescribed by doctors especially for pain such as Vicodin, Oxycontin, Loritab and Percocet, which are highly addictive and can lead to life-threatening withdrawals.
The national Institute of Medicine's 1999 report on medical marijuana stated: "The accumulated data indicate a potential therapeutic value for cannabinoid drugs, particularly for symptoms such as pain relief, control of nausea and vomiting, and appetite stimulation."
