Tryouts will be held November 7th at 10am at Hollywood Connection, 3217 Decker Lake Drive, in West Valley (across from the E-Center) for both Women’s (Wasatch) and Men’s (Uintah) Roller Derby leagues.
Wasatch and Uintah Madness are combining their efforts to expand the sport of roller derby in Utah! Come get involved in a revolutionary sport that’s taking the world by storm. There are several ways to join the revolution:
Be a player - Get in on the ABCs of roller derby….Adrenaline, bruises and camaraderie!
There are several things we look for in a skater:
Agility, Balance, Endurance, Speed! If you don’t feel like you possess these skills right now, come try out anyway. It will give you an idea of your current skill level and help you focus on specific areas of development, and our awesome skaters will be there to give you pointers on the fastest ways to improve your skills.
Other important attributes of a roller derby girl or guy: good attitude, desire to improve skills, enthusiasm, a spirit of teamwork, and dedication to the sport and league.
What will I need to try out?
Every skater will be required to have wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads, a helmet, and quad roller skates. Quad Roller skates can be rented from Hollywood during tryouts. We have a few extra pads in select sizes that will be available during tryouts.
Be a referee - This is a great way to get involved in this fast paced sport with less bruising, and its great exercise. You are still on skates with a prime view of all the action. If you don’t feel completely comfortable on skates yet, don’t let that hold you back – now is the perfect time to learn, and we can help.
Be a volunteer - Want to join the fun but not sure about the skates? That’s OK! We have plenty of other ways to get involved. Our volunteer staff provides us the ability to pull off our awesome events. Contact us or show up at tryouts to see what its all about.
